Mr. Hunt, I Presume
Playful Brides #10.5
“He never forgot her…
When General Collin Hunt is ordered to take a much-needed holiday, he resigns himself to rest and recreation at his brother’s country estate. But when the only woman he ever loved—and selflessly gave up—shows up as his sister-in-law’s governess, his carefully ordered life is turned inside out.
She’ll never forgive him…
When Erienne Stone defied her family and fled her life of privilege, she never expected to be reunited with the man who’d abandoned her more than a decade before. But Lucy, Duchess of Claringdon, is a hard woman to say no to, even when Erienne’s heart is in danger of breaking all over again.
A meddling matchmaker may be the key to their second chance…
After a decade of pain and heartache, can two star-crossed lovers trust the truth in their own hearts?”
I can never get enough of Valerie Bowman’s books! This story is a reunited lovers tale that hits the heartstrings!
Lucy, who was introduced in book one of the Playful Brides series is in need of a governess (as she had matchmaked her last one) and discovers Erinne, an applicant, who is also the long lost love of her brother-in-law. Meddling Lucy orchestrates a plan and Collin and Erinne reunite and fall back into love.
Collin, the brother-in-law of Lucy, is an army general who selflessly gave up Erinne 14 years prior despite still loving her, as he believed that she deserved better than a soldier. Erinne refused to marry all those years because of her deep-set love of Collin. She ended up leaving her family to make her own way as a governess.
While a novella, I believe that the story was given enough page space to fully develop, which is uncommon for me as I usually find novella to be rushed. I appreciated that while towards the end of the series, this book brought back the first book’s duo. I definitely recommend this novella, it was perfectly timed to be released around Valentine’s day as love prevails!
About the Author
VALERIE BOWMAN grew up in Illinois with six sisters (she’s number seven) and a huge supply of historical romance novels. After a cold and snowy stint earning a degree in English with a minor in history at Smith College, she moved to Florida the first chance she got. Valerie now lives in Jacksonville with her family including her mini-schnauzer, Huckleberry. When she’s not writing, she keeps busy reading, traveling, or vacillating between watching crazy reality TV and PBS. She is the author of the Secret Brides and Playful Brides series.
I received this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
