“When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen…but he is, in fact, something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she’d only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head…

#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old”

Lately, I have been on a regency romance kick (which has been going on for years), this sci-fi novel was a wonderful break from society. As I had been hearing great things about this author for years, I jumped on the chance to get one of her ARCs on NetGalley. I am certainly glad I did!

This novel perfectly wove together a post-alien-war society bereft with species-ism that painfully parallels our current society. On top of this, these aliens are beautifully crafted and complex creatures that can asimilate, despite resistance. While she could be occasionally dumb, the main character Evie’s innocence allowed the reader to learn as she did. Also, I can not forget to mention that Luc is a dream.

This novel was amazing and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

About the Author

“# 1 New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout Lives in West Virginia.

All the rumors you heard about her state aren’t true.

Well, mostly. When she’s not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.

She is the author of the Covenant Series (Spencer Hill Press), the Lux Series (Entangled Teen), Don’t Look Back (Disney/Hyperion) and a yet untitled novel (Disney/Hyperion), and new YA paranormal series with Harlequin Teen.

Jennifer also writes New Adult and Adult romance under the pen name J. Lynn. The Gamble Brothers Series (Tempting the Best Man/Tempting the Player) and Wait for You. Under her pen name, she is published with Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.”

I received this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
