“A set textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since publication, Newt Scamander’s masterpiece has entertained wizarding families through the generations.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an indispensable introduction to the magical beasts of the wizarding world. Scamander’s years of travel and research have created a tome of unparalleled importance. Some of the beasts will be familiar to readers of the Harry Potter books – the Hippogriff, the Basilisk, the Hungarian Horntail … Others will surprise even the most ardent amateur magizoologist. Dip in to discover the curious habits of magical beasts across five continents …

Comic Relief will give the money it gets from the sales of this book to projects helping some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world.

Please note: This is the 2017 edition of Pottermore’s Hogwarts Library ebook, featuring bespoke cover artwork from Olly Moss and a new foreword from J.K. Rowling. ”

To preface this, this is a review for the Hogwarts library “textbook”, not the screenplay or film of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. That aside, Eddie Redmayne, who played Newt Scamander in the film, narrated this book as well. Making it perfectly work together with the film. I adore Eddie Redmayne’s voice. It was perfect and quirky for the encyclopedia of creatures that this book centers on.

Now onto the book itself, I had read the original version of this book back when it was first published (many times), so I was excited to find out that this narrated version includes the extended foreword and more fantastical creatures. It was exciting to hear about some of the creatures from the Americas and Africa as well as those in the previous editions of the book.

I adore this book because it combines two of my favorite things learning (as it is a textbook at Hogwarts) and the Harry Potter universe. I definitely recommend this narration to fans of the series. It is a quick listen (at least for an audiobook), only lasting no more than two hours.
