This past weekend I’ve started becoming a book doctor. After spending a small fortune on supplies, I mended a couple sick books of mine. One is an old paperback of Hawthorne tales that the cover had come off and the other is Madam Bovary where the spine detached. I’m hoping to get better at this and then ultimately bind my own sketchbooks! Here’s how I fared, as far as reading, this week:

CURRENTLY READING

Wharton, Edith; The Age of InnocenceMaas, Sarah J. Maas; The Assassin's BladeMaas, Sarah J.; Heir of Fire

The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

I’m thoroughly enjoying The Age of Innocence, I’m listening to the libravox audio book and it is a great story to listen to while I work. So far I’ve finished the first novella from The Assassin’s Blade, but I may put off the rest for once I finish Heir of Fire. As for Heir of Fire, with what I’ve read so far I understand why it has poor reviews. I’m about seventy-five or so pages in and it just has a slow feel to it.

RECENTLY FINISHED

Bowman, Valerie; Secrets of a Wedding NightLevithan, David; Another DayBowman, Valerie; Secrets of a Runaway Bride

Secrets of a Wedding Night by Valerie Bowman
Another Day
by David Levithan
Secrets of a Runaway Bride by Valerie Bowman

This past week I had the pleasure of reading Valerie Bowman’s first two novels, from her secret brides series. They were lovely, not as wonderful as the playful brides series, but still good. I’m happy that I finally got around to finishing Another Day. It was wonderful and a review will be posted next Sunday, in time for the book’s release on the 25th.
